I managed to compile a #video from yesterday's hike! I admit it was a bit tough for me. 1000m elevation & #snowshoes on the backpack (hoping that I could make some good use of them).
The views yesterday were really top! At the summit I had a nice chat with a dude who was here for holidays.

VERY excited to pull these tools off the wall and put them to use after TOO long as display objects. Scoped out some lines last time we had factual winter weather years ago. Gotta rally to hike some Athens turns when Mother Nature provides. See ya on the hill!
I caved and bought aluminum snowshoes, adapting to the harsh realities of winter now: ice and harsh snow.
The wooden ones, some with rawhide webbing, that I built years ago are only suitable for deep, powdery snow. They allow for silent walking. The aluminum ones not so much. But they have a good grip on ice.
Find a selection of skates and snowshoes on the Pitt Rivers Museum's Wonderful Winter Trail, including these snowshoes for horses! Originating from Norway, they were donated to the museum in 1906.
