''On 2nd Sept., a 4 or 5 yrs old juvenile sea lion (Otaria flavescens) w/ nervous symptoms was reported at Cerro Beach in Dept of #Montevideo. DINARA & DGSG technicians attended area. Nasal & anal cavity swabs were taken & sent to official labo. #Surveillance and control of backyard poultry farms and commercial farms will begin in the area. Official laboratory reported today that RTqPCR test resulted positive. Animal died on spot & sanitary burial & disinfection of area was carried out.''
